The NC10 Operating System Guide
Stock Operating System
The Samsung NC10 will be delivered to you with a stock install of the Windows XP Home mobile computing edition. This is the only version that Microsoft now supply having moved over to distributing their new Vista operating system. The reason for this is that XP should perform to a higher standard than that of Vista on the relatively low specification netbooks. That's not to say there is anything wrong with the supplied OS and many of you will not wish to change it.
Alternative Operating Systems
The standard Windows XP Home Install will be adequate for the majority of casual users. XP is a mature OS and currently well supported by software vendors. By sticking to the stock OS you will ensure full compatibility with your netbook's hardware and make things like driver updates etc easy to complete.
However there are many reasons why you might want to try out a different operating system. Perhaps you prefer the new graphical look of Vista or want to see if Windows 7 performs as well as rumoured. In which case the following How To guides will help you get started!
