Running Games on the NC10 Netbook

Welcome to the Samsung NC10 Games guide. Feel free to add your own experiences to the list!

The NC10 was not built with games in mind, but then none of the current crop are! And if the performance doesn't put you off the small screen size might well do instead. However if you like a quick blast from time to time there are many games that will run quite well and will help pass the time on a long journey.

The NC10 Graphics Chip

The intergrated graphics chip in the NC10 is an Intel GMA 950, which is found in most of the current netbook generation. The GMA 950 is Intel's second-generation Graphics Media Accelerator graphics core and it's architecture dates back to 2005. Neither basic (DX7) hardware transform and lighting, nor more advanced vertex shaders (DX8 and later) are handled in the GMA hardware. This hardware limitation means that a lot of modern games will simply not run on the NC10. However there are still plenty of enjoyable games which don't require much graphics processing power (and won't break the bank!)

The Playable Games List

The Games list has moved! Check here: Samsung Netbook Games List (N-Series)

The list now combines all netbooks in the N-series.

Installing Games On The NC10

The NC10 does not come equipped with an optical drive but there a few ways around this:

  • Buy an external DVD drive. This is a drive that you plug into the USB port of your NC10. This will enable you to install games/software from optical media.
  • Have another computer with a DVD drive and a USB stick. Most game installers will work just fine if you copy the contents of the DVD to a USB stick and install it on the NC10 from there.
  • Buy the game as a digital download from services like Steam, Impulse or Greenhouse.
