The Galaxy Tab 10.1 is the second Android powered tablet to be released by Samsung. Released in July 2011 around the world this model showed Samsung's intent to become a serious player in this market space.

Overview
The 10" tablet from Samsung is a direct rival to the 10" iPad 2 from Apple. The dual core touch screen device is powered by Google's Android operating system. At the time of release this was version 3.1 Honeycomb.

Inevitably the Samsung tablet is going to be compared to the iPad 2, the rival model from Apple at the time of release. Samsung have been careful to ensure that their new Tab out specs the Apple rival at every corner.
- Tab is thinner (2mm) and lighter (36g)
- Android OS provides greater flexibility, however this won't suit everyone
- Tab has 1gb RAM compared to 500mb
- Tab has a higher capacity battery
