Samsung Galaxy Portal i5700
The Galaxy Portal phone is also known as the Galaxy Spica outside of the UK, either way this page is dedicated to the i5700 Android based mobile.
Overview
The Galaxy Portal is a quad-band phone with a full suite of connectivity: HSDPA, GPS, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi. There's 180MB of internal memory and a 1GB microSD card included in the box. Samsung claims a very specific 5 hours and 5 minutes of talk time.
Applications
The Samsung Galaxy Portal sports a wide range of pre-loaded applications, including
- Facebook,
- Windows Live Messenger,
- Skype,
- Spotify
- Google Maps
- Google Mail
And of course also comes with access to the Android Market, where users will find all the apps they should ever need ready to download to their phone.
Layer
The exciting thing about the i5700 is the introduction of the Layer augmented reality system. Move the phone around and the technology will automagically superimpose useful information over the images captured by the camera. The ideal companion if you can't find your way to a local pub in a less than familiar location!
