How can I upgrade my Netbook Battery?
Netbook batteries can vary considerably. The first thing to look at is how many cells your battery contains, the more it has the longer the life but consequently it will be heavier and bulkier. Batteries with the same number of cells can also have different capacities. For example a high capacity NC10 battery might be rated as 7800mAh. The higher the value the higher the capacity.
- Replacement Samsung NC10 battery: The Samsung NC10 ships with a variety of different batteries, the more common option is for a 6 cell battery that provides around 4 or 5 hours of use. Replacing with a 9 cell battery can add another couple of hours to that life time.
How can I monitor my Battery Usage?
Samsung netbooks come with a couple of monitoring tools, an in built Windows monitor and a Samsung built one.
Other options are available, for example Battery Bar. BatteryBar attempts to predict the amount of time left by recording your usage in the past, this way it can give you an accurate measure of how long on average you have left.
However, the power usage of a netbook will vary massively depending on how you are using it. Run time will be much longer if just using notepad compared to playing games for example.
