Starting up for the First time
Charging
Many Samsung Netbooks seems to arrive ready charged. With the NC10 for example you will see the charge light go green if it is fully charged, and amber whilst it is charging.
Partitions
When setting up your netbook for the first time you might want to think about partitioning the hard disk. Many users will not worry about this and I for one stuck to the default setup. If you don't know what we are talking about, don't worry, you can skip past this section! However if you think you do want to partition the drive differently now is the time to do it.

Cleaning up the Windows Install
Thankfully Samsung supply their netbooks with a nice clean install, there are a few custom applications included but most users will want to keep these as they help in the operation of your new device.
However, you may wish to remove the McAfee virus scanner and replace it with an install of your own. Note that the supplied scanner is perfectly respectable, but you may wish to use other products based on personal preference and price (normally netbook owners chose to replace with free alternatives such as Avast or AVG!). The choice is yours.
Tweaking Tips
- This guide was put together to help people get the maximum battery life out of their NC10. Note that this thread was aimed at pushing the maximum life from the netbook and most new users will not want to go so far. Read the thread carefully and make sure you understand the consequences of any tweaks before trying them out.
