lamp / fan / heat
Hello, I have a 46" Samsung DLP. Hear a slight humm from the fan where the lamp is. This noice was not there when I purchased the TV. Happened after I replaced the Lamp for the TV. The humm noice is not always there. Could the fan be going out? Needs cleaned? Not sure and would like to know a little info about this before I start tearing it apart and looking at it.
With this humm noice that I have, The TV seems to be not cooling down. The reason I say this is when I shut the TV off, and someone else comes to turn the TV back on, say in 5 min, the TV beeps and lights flash that the Lamp needs replaced. My brother will place a large fan on the back of the TV to get the TV to turn on / cool off faster.

According to the Samsung website:
"Only trained Samsung technicians can diagnose and replace the fan or similar component on your DLP TV"
They suggest giving their support line a call if you have a problem. From yuor description it does sound like you could have a problem, unfortunately mechanical parts are always subject to possible failure
