Default Really need help with samsung sound setup

Hi all. I have just purchased a Samsung PS51D450, for my mother. She has very bad eyesight hence the large screen, she also is partially def. My problem is I have installed a loop system in the room for use with her hearing aid. Connection from the tv to the loop amplifier is through 3.5mm audio jack. This system is in use in another room, simply plug the jack into the earphone socket and that's it. The problem I am having here is when I plug in the lead for the amplifier into the headphone socket the speakers on the tv turn off. This is a problem as my father does require sound from the tv speakers. So i am stuck at the moment. does anyone know if there is a way to keep the main speakers active while the headphone socket is in use. Any help would be very very much appreciated.
    Thank you in advance.

I know the problem you mean, stick headphones in and the main speakers cut out.

Same thing happens on my Samsung TV and we have a work around for it in a sense, but it's not really the solution you are looking for. But for what it's worth....

We have our TV coming in through a Virgin V+ box and this has audio outputs that we take through to an amplifier. The amp can then power external speakers for a bit of surround sound, but of course it could power some headphones too if we wished. In this scenario the TV's speakers are unaffected.

It is possible you don't need an amp in this scenario, perhaps the V+ box signal could be used direct - I'm not an expert. And obviously you may not have cable, but you might have a Freeview box with audio output, etc.

Having a quick look around some other forums I have seen people suggest using the digital output to feed the headphones but this isn't something I know about. Can't find anyone with the ideal solution.

Might have a fiddle on my telly when I get home (albeit a different model).

If you get anywhere, be sure to let us know
