I have the Vibrant thru T-Mobile and am really enjoying it. I'd love to be able to be one of the first consumers to get my hands on one of the Samsung Tablets when they come out.

Hi Gaffer, thanks for stopping by!
I guess you are in the US then based on the "Vibrant" - that's a branded Galaxy S mobile right?
I wonder whether the galaxy tab is going to be released in the US or UK first?! I'm hoping the UK as it will definitely give this forum a boost if I can be one of the first people to get hold of one. Traditionally the Samsung netbooks have been released here earlier than other parts of the world.
I guess you've seen the new site already: http://galaxytab.samsungmobile.com/
I was about to get the iPad but there were a few things missing.
This Galaxy Tab might be the one for me.
Basically I want to be able to load my photos and videos from my digital camera to tablet.
I would also like to be able to split videos on the tablet.
September is just round the corner.![]()
Well, we'll know just what the machine is capable of tomorrow!
Ysabel, are you familiar with Samung's DLNA technology? Actually I don't know much and I don't know if the Tab will use it but the idea is that it becomes very easy to move media (photos, videos, music, etc) around between enabled devices.
That said, hopefully the more open nature of Android will ensure anything is possible and not just what Apple think we should be doing!
Has anyone heard which USA networks this will be released on, and if we can purchase without a carrier plan. I see Vodaphone will be the first.
I so want this without a plan.

The launch material said you can shoot video and then edit it. Wonder what does edit means? I would like to be able to split or take a small portion and email it to friends within the limits of most emails like under 10Mb attachment.
Not familiar with DLNA.
Since you have the NC10 and I have the NC20, we can hope for a good finish product from Samsung.
Hopefully it will be launch in London soon.![]()
Yeah, the chance to edit video on the go sounds good. Especially if the touch interface allows for cool edits by rolling the video backwards and forwards at the touch of a the screen!
It sounds like Europe will be the first launch area, and usually the UK is one of the first places to get products in Euro land. So hopefully we'll see it in London soon!
So you are still interested in the tablet even thought you have a netbook? Think the two devices will work together well?![]()
If the Galaxy Tab works the way I want - can upload photos and videos through a USB device and also editing video on the go, this will be my device for on-the-move. It also plays video from my camera which is in avi format. It was a pain having to convert my video to watch it on the Touch or iPad.
This solve my USB - There's a 30-pin dock connector on the bottom that allows for HDMI, USB, and docking accessories (a car dock at least is planned).
I gather the price will be attractive as well in order to compete with the iPad.
Once the Tab can do what I use when traveling, my NC20 will be redundant. My sister has been eyeballing it for a while so ...
I also want it without a plan. I will go for the MiFi solution. They are getting smaller and more sophisticated.
My company bought me and 4 others a iPAD, but I know the Tab will outperform the iPAD.
It kills me to know they will not deploy in the USA quckly enough. The US Carriers are greedy and do not like to give a phone out without their hooks in your skin for 2 years.
