    Default Display Driver problems

I have Sammy Netbook NC10 and while it is pretty useful, I have had several events where the display goes to black and re-appears. Not being very fluent in tech-speak, I hope that I can explain this clearly enough. The event occurs when I am away from the computer for a while and it shuts down. When I restart using the hinge start up, the screen will flash, go to black, then reappear with the error message that the display driver failed and recovered. Is this a potentially fatal problem that I need to attend to or merely an annoyance? What do you think?

Hi sillyrabbit, welcome to the forum.

My NC10 suffered a screen fault whereby the screen would go fuzzy/black/purple intermittently. After sending it back to Samsung they returned it with a replaced screen cable. It's been fine ever since. Unfortunately, reading around the net, it seems this problem isn't isolated (although neither is it common).

However your prob seems a bit different as you have got an error message - I never got that and I've not read about anyone else having the same thing.

I think the first thing I would do is run the Samsung Recovery software and do a restore just in case it is a software problem. If the problem continues then if the NC10 is in warranty (unlikely?) then I'd look at getting it repaired - they fixed mine pretty quick. I would guess that the cost of paying for a repair would make it worth considering a replacement.
