3D Televisions are set to be a hot consumer product for the next decade. We have become familiar with the technology in previous years through the cinema and with recent advances in filming we have been enjoying a resurgence of 3D on our screens. With films like Avatar setting new standards we are getting more excited about seeing three dimensions coming to our television screens at home.

==Overview==
Samsung 3D televisions are in many ways like normal plasma/LCD TVs but with the addition of a 3D option. In fact so far it seems the tellys are being sold at the same price as normal ones although there is an additional cost for the required 3D glasses.

Although Samsung's models come with a 2D-3D conversion facility which can add depth of field to any images, to get the full effect you really need to have a dedicated [[Blue Ray]] player capable of playing genuine 3D mastered material. Alternatively it is inevitable that broadcasters will provide another source of 3D pictures in the future with Sky already trialling a number of football broadcasts.

You probably have a fair idea of how 3D TV works. The image is split into two, shot from slightly different angles; the glasses separate the images into left and right eye, and the brain combines them to give an illusion of depth. Unfortunately, ff you only have one eye, the system won't work for you.
